Magic and Mischief

Donald D. Hoffman

Why not have fun while exploring the marvels of science? You can do just that with Magic and Mischief, a book of fiction for children in the 5th and 6th grades. Learn about the discovery of a vaccine for small pox, the strange quantum behavior of atoms and subatomic particles, the odd feeding and breeding habits of the wasp sphex, the intense battle between germs and the body's immune defense system, the surgery for epilepsy which splits the brain and alters consciousness, and the ghostly phantom arms and legs experienced by many amputees. Magic and Mischief presents scientific fact in a context of fanciful fiction, though in many cases the facts are stranger than fiction.

Magic and Mischief is as yet unpublished. My agent, John Brockman, doesn't do children's books, so I'm on my own with this one. If you are an agent or publisher, and like the chapters that are hotlinked below, you can contact me at the address or email on my homepage, and I'll send you the complete manuscript.
