My research investigates topics in attention, perceptual learning, and memory.

The attention project investigates the mechanisms of visual attention in basic perceptual tasks, including attention to a location in space, the coordination of multi-modal inputs, and mechanisms of visual search.

The perceptual learning project investigates performance improvements in visual tasks, the mechanisms of those improvements, the functional level of learned improvements, specificity of learning, and the time course of perceptual learning.

The memory projects investigate the limitations on working memory, the nature and forgetting of information in explicit and implicit memory, and the interaction of information from multiple memory sources.

Work is currently supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Mental Health, and Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
