For Parents of 2-4 year olds
Our research with children takes place at preschools in and around Irvine, CA, as well as in our lab on the UCI campus. Our studies are fun and interesting for children to do, and usually take about 15-20 minutes to complete. Children receive a small gift for signing up. If you would like to sign your child up to participate, please go to the Join Us page.
For Undergraduates

We have research assistant (RA) positions available during the academic year for highly qualified and motivated UCI undergraduates. Research assistants are required to commit 10 hours per week for an entire academic year (Fall-Winter-Spring), including the hours of 9-11 AM Monday-Thursday and 12-2 PM on Fridays. RAs receive course credit for working in the lab – 4 units of credit per quarter for a total of 12 units during the year. If you are interested in applying for one of the open RA positions, click the link to the Join Us page.

For eligibility criteria, please see our posting on UROP's website:

We are currently accepting applications for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Applications will continue to be accepted through the summer, although the lab will be closed for the month of August (so replies to your application submission may be delayed if you submit at that time).

For Preschools
If your school would like to participate in research conducted by our lab, here’s how it works:
  • We conduct research with children at your school, using fun, age-appropriate tasks. We always get consent from parents beforehand, and each child receives a small gift (such as a soccer ball or a T-shirt) for signing up.
  • In return, we provide free inservice seminars for your staff. These seminars are accepted by the NAEYC for accreditation purposes.
Centers that already participate in our research include: UCI Early Childhood Education Center, University Montessori of Irvine, and Turtle Rock Preschool.

If your school is interested in getting involved in our research, please follow the link to the Join Us page, or contact our Lab Manager, Emily Carrigan.
