Here is an example of the subjective Ternus configuration. A subjective dot is flashed for 130 milliseconds on the left of the central subjective dot, then a subjective dot is flashed for 130 milliseconds on the right of the central subjective dot. This sequence is repeated over and over. Your visual system makes the central dot stay put and makes a subjective dot jump back and forth around the central dot. Visual Intelligence, page 146.
