Here is an example of the Ternus configuration. The brown dot is flashed for 130 milliseconds on the left of the central brown dot, then a blank screen is flashed for 130 milliseconds, then the dot is flashed for 130 milliseconds on the right of the central brown dot, followed again by a blank screen for 130 milliseconds. This sequence is repeated over and over. Your visual system makes two dots jump back and forth together. Visual Intelligence, page 146.
