Here is an example of "Phi" motion around a square. The brown dot is flashed for 130 milliseconds on the left of the square, then the square alone is displayed for 130 milliseconds, then the dot is flashed for 130 milliseconds on the right of the square, followed again by the square alone for 130 milliseconds. This sequence is repeated over and over. Your visual system constructs a dot jumping above, below, behind, or in front of the square. Visual Intelligence, page 145.
