Here is an example of Anstis and Ramachandran's variant on Wertheimer's rotating cross. First a cross rotated just a bit counterclockwise from vertical is flashed for 130 milliseconds, then an upright cross is flashed for 130 milliseconds, then a cross at 45 degrees is flashed for 130 milliseconds. This sequence is repeated over and over. Your visual system creates a rotary motion of the cross. Now you see it rotate clockwise, never counterclockwise. Visual Intelligence, page 149.
