Here is an example of Wertheimer's rotating cross. An upright cross is flashed for 130 milliseconds, then a cross at 45 degrees is flashed for 130 milliseconds. This sequence is repeated over and over. Your visual system creates a rotary motion of the cross. Sometimes you see it rotate clockwise, sometimes counterclockwise. Visual Intelligence, page 149.
