Here is an example of "Phi" motion. The brown dot is flashed for 200 milliseconds on the left, then the display is blank for 50 milliseconds, then the dot is flashed for 200 milliseconds on the right, followed again by a blank for 50 milliseconds. This sequence is repeated over and over. Your visual system constructs a motion of the dot back and forth. Visual Intelligence, page 142.
